Are We The Salt?
You are here: Home » Uncategorized » Are We The Salt?

I’m not talking about Salt movie star by Angelina Jolie. What I’m talking here is, are we consider ourselves as the salt of the earth? Matthew 5:13 said “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

Matthew 5:13 ask us a question about our faith and practice. Our faith and practice refer as a salt to us Christians. Why salt? Why not gold or silver or diamond? Salt use as salt are known as the giver of life. Salt is essential in every cooking. Make it be steam, fried, stir fry, grilled, barbeque, etc., salt is a must in every cooking. As salt essential to cooking, so is our faith and religious practice in our daily living as a Christians.

Christians salt are made or faith and practice. But what practice should a Christians have? Nowadays we are to busy to really committed to God’s work or church activities. So how can we regularly practice our faith? It is indeed right that this modern living really take our times and prevent us actively involve in God’s ministry. What we can do?

Remember the ten commandment. It doesn’t say we need to spend too much times for God’s ministries. It only stated that we take our day off on the seventh day and dedicated this days to worship HIM. But how if we shift workers and have to work on Sunday? I’m sure we cannot afford to quit our job or always taking leave on Sunday. Then, we must remember when Jesus are praying at Gethsemane and found out his disciples are sleeping,He requested them to spend just 1 hours praying with Him. So remind ourselves, when we have a day off on Sunday it is good to hear the word of God and worship Him in the church. And daily basis, it is the best practice to spend a few moment saying our prayers.

Our faith is the most important things when become a Christians. A faith can do what is unthinkable. Without faith we are like a rock. Going nowhere and do nothing. Jesus said ” A faith with a size of a mustard seed can move a mountain “. A Christian without faith are no better than a non-Christian. How much is our faith to Christ? Only we ourselves can tell. Without faith we are like salt that lose its saltiness.

The question we should ask to ourselves now. Are we a salt that still good or are we a salt that have lose its saltiness? Spend our time alone and think about it.
